从内容上看，这部分考试主要考察学生对英语掌握的2个方面：一是以单词、单句为单位，考察学生基本的词汇能力(能否根据不同的语境区分近义词的使用、不啰嗦等)和语法应用能力(名词和动词、句子结构、句子个部分关系等);二是以段落和文章为单位，考察学生的修辞能力和理解力(段落之间的衔接、文章主题的把握和改善等)。前者题目略多于后者。
