【问2】： 我在练习写作时曾写过这样的句子：The number of China’s tourists visiting the United States is expanding. 我校外教将China’s 改为Chinese，可我曾看到过这样一个句子“China’s tourism industry is expanding.” 请问这两个用法究竟有什么区别？

另外，老师多次讲过英语写作的一大忌讳是用词重复，而我在林肯演讲词里看到这样一句：“… government of the people, by the people and for the people shall not perish from the earth.”, 这里的people不是多次重复吗？ 可不可以去掉两个people，仅保留一个？ 

答：1. China’s 一般表示中国特有的，令中国引以自豪的人或事。而Chinese则表示属性，即属于中国的，而不是其他国家的。请看我写的这个句子： Prof. Hu Min is revered by the Chinese media as China’s father of IELTS. (胡敏教授被中国媒体誉为“中国雅思之父”。) media前的Chinese表示国别，没有必要用China’s， 而father of IELTS前应用China’s，表示令中国引以自豪的人。
