Some people prefer to buy technological devices as soon as they are available to the public, while other people prefer to wait. Which do you prefer?

The night before the earliest sell of iPhone 4S, thousands of “Apple maniacs” were waiting in the hundreds-meter-long line, hoping to snatch the latest products as soon as possible. In the meanwhile, there were also people who contented themselves with their 5-year-old Nokia, holding a wait-and-see attitude towards the new technological device. And I definitely belong to the latter.

First of all,I prefer to wait because the new technological products often have bugs. I would rather wait for others to find them than be the guinea pig. For example, when Windows Vista, the widely-used operating system, was first released, most of my friends installed it in their computers right away, while I kept using Windows XP. About one month later, they gradually found that there were many bugs in the system. For instance, it is not compatible with some programs. Sometimes the inconvenience caused by bugs was so noticeable that they had to turn back to Window XP. As is known to all, to change the operating system consumes time and energy as well as money. So, by waiting, I prevented myself from much unnecessary loss.

Another reason is that it is often costly to buy technological devices as soon as they are available. When a new product is released, the demand is usually so high that sellers can raise the price high above its true value. On the other hand, with the fast development of science and technology, and the propulsion of the potential market and profit, high-tech companies keep producing products of new generation. An upgraded version of product may be outdated within just a few months, which leads to the reduction of price. For example, a cell phone with the Android system might cost over 4000 yuan in China when it was first brought to the public. However, several months later, it cost less than 3000 yuan. If one waited with a little patience for a few months, more than 1000 yuan would be saved for other use, such as buying books and travelling. Admittedly, those who purchased the cell phone earlier would use it for a longer time than those who bought it later. Nevertheless, it is not worth 1000 yuan just to have access to the latest technology a few months earlier. The most fundamental function of a cell phone is to make calls any way, not to provide a fashionable system to play with.

To sum up, I prefer to wait when a new technological device is available. By doing so, I can avoid possible bugs and save my money for better use. (425 words)
